    19/04/2011 - Metro League
    Droylsden - 0 Vs 3 - Hurricanes
    Man of the Match: Ryan
Goal(s) Scored by: Ryan, Zac Penalty, Gman
Droylsden started the game with only 10 men but we were not able to take advantage of this. During the first half we looked tired and lacked motivation, score 0 0 at half time.

During the second half we eventually started to find some energy whilst Droylsden increased their numbers to 11. We really didn't want to come away with a draw. Eventually we started to find our stride and the game looked more positive.
By the end of the game we were passing the ball well, although a little quiet we scored 3 goals, this included a fine penalty from Zac.

Well done Lads, only 3 more games left but let's keep going and finish on a high!!!!!!

    17/04/2011 - Metro Cup
    Reddish Vulcans - 3 Vs 2 - Stockport Vikings
Man of the Match: The Whole Team
Goal(s) Scored by: Tom, G-man, Josh
We knew that this was going to be a hard match with Vikings looking to get one over on us in this final season.

They started well and were soon 2 - 0 up but we were able to get a morale boosting goal back before the break to go in 2 - 1 behind.

The coaches needed to do their job to lift the boys at half time. They did and Hurricanes came out with great determination and belief. We equalised with about 15 minutes to go and continued to exert pressure which finally paid off when Josh put the ball in the back of the net with only minutes remaining. Final score 3 - 2 to Vulcans.

Well done boys, let's try to make it a double to end our fantastic junior football experience on a high.

    13/04/2011 - Stockport Metro League
    Vikings - 0 Vs 0 - Hurricanes
Man of the Match: Allatt and Sean
    Goal(s) Scored by:
An exciting game to watch, both teams displayed some good quality football.

Hurricanes created many goal scoring opportunities but were not able to put the ball in the back of the net. A fair result for both teams who will face each other again on Sunday in the Final of the Stockport Metro Cup.

One thing to learn from our performance is we MUST continue to play as a team, talk more on the pitch and continue to maintain our discipline throughout the game.

Good Luck on Sunday boys !

    Great More - 1 Vs 0 - Reddish Vulcanes
    Man of the Match: Ryan
    Goal(s) Scored by:
It was a good day but wrong result for us. We were looking a bit tired and too relaxed in the first half and thatís how we conceded a goal. Second half it was only our boys pondering Great More but could not finish them off and we really worked hard which it could have been 3 or 4 goals for us, but lady luck wasnít there. Never mind lads you played well and keep your concentration and mind on the next game.

    poynton - 1 Vs 5 - Reddish Vulcans
Man of the Match: Rory & Tom
    Goal(s) Scored by: Aria x 1, Tom x 4
We were looking for a competitive match as all teams try their best against us which we really appreciate it. The match started with poynton trying long balls in our half and they were putting up good fight to control the game, but our boys quickly changed the gear and start playing passing football and gave us first goal on a good corner by zak and finish by Aria. Poynton retaliate on a free kick and scored a header. After that it was all our lads to prove how they can play with tom having one of his best games and with hard work of all lads specially Rory and G-man to score 4 more goals for us. Overall it was good games specially second half as we were in control with our passing and creating chances and good defending. Well done boys keep it up as our hard games still to be played.

    20/03/2011 - metro league
    high lane - 3 Vs 8 - reddish vulcans
    Man of the Match: G-Man
    Goal(s) Scored by: Tom x 2 ,Ryan x 2, Rory x 1, Zak x 1, G-man x 1, Kiarno x 1
This game was against a team at the bottom half of the table but as we know you should never underestimate your opponents. It was a narrow pitch and flat but playable. We started well and put them under pressure with some good passing and creating opportunities and ball start finding opponents net to finish the first half with 5 goals. Second half again we relaxed and sat back so high lane grabbed the opportunity and capitalized on our over confident and mistakes to score 3 goals. Of course the boys wok up and scored another 3 goals to finish the game 8 - 3 but overall not happy with the game and unfortunately we did not display the football we are really capable of. Well done any way but please keep yourselves in shape and be more serious and concentrated on the pitch.

    13/03/2011 - Semi-Final Metro Cup
    Great Moor A - 2 Vs 3 - Hurricanes
Man of the Match: All of the Team
    Goal(s) Scored by: Kiarno x3
Well done boys, through to the Final.

You played a good competitive game and deserved to win. We need to focus on fitness over the next few weeks but hopefully this will improve as we play more games.

A big Thank You to Mr Ged Breslin who will never hang his boots.

    06/03/2011 - Metro league
    Hurricanes - 4 Vs 2 - Stockport Vikings
    Man of the Match: Allatt/Gman
Goal(s) Scored by: Kiarno 2, Allatt, Zak
We knew that this would be a challenging fixture and we weren't disappointed.

Vikings came out of the blocks quickly and we were two down in no time. For most of the rest of the first half we were under pressure and struggling to find any form but just before the break Kiarno got one back for Vulcans. Half time 1 - 2 to Vikings.

We came out for the second half looking a better side and the pressure paid off as Vikings conceded a penalty which Zak put away to bring us level. We were spending moreand more time in Vikings half and eventully got our just deserts with a sweetly struck shot from Allatt to take the lead, followed a little later by another well struck goal from Kiarno to give us the victory we eventually deserved.

This wasn't our best display of football but it did show that we have the toughness to dig a result out on a difficult day. Well done boys.

After 3 weeks not been able to have a game eventually we had to play a metro cup match away to Whaley Bridge. Such a long trip for a very uncompetitive game. There is not much to say about this game but the only good point was that the boys had a good kick about and tried some passing and scoring, so hopefully they wonít forget for our next match! Please remember learn from every game you play and donít think you can walk over any team, just look at the fixture for the semi and be more serious and fit for that match. After all win is a win and well done.

The frosty conditions this morning took everyone by surprise. Despite the goodwill of both teams arriving on time for kick off the refs decision to call the game off was certainly the right one. The Hurricanes utilised their time well with the encouragment of Mr Ged Breslin who had them ice-skating providing the boys with a good work-out!. The boys loved every minute of it!!!!!!!

A trip over to Ashton-Under Lyne for a 4pm kick off, playing on 3G astro, with flood lights !

Despite the poor light the pitch was perfect and suited our style of play. Our game involved quick passing from everyone, excellent football and a joy to watch. We secured the first half with a 4-0 lead.

We continued to dominate throughout the second half with Kiarno securing a well derserved hat-trick. Fantastic performance from everyone and we maintained our discipline throughout.

    Apollo Juniors - 0 Vs 4 - Hurricanes

Remembrance Sunday started with a 1 minute respectful silence from everyone.

Hurricanes started the game well and secured an early lead. Despite the heavy surface we were able to pass the ball well and make good use of the pitch. It wasn't long before we found the back of net again to secure a 3-0 cushion at half time.

For the second half the boys performance was below par. Passing was sloppy and despite another goal we seemed to struggle to get out of first gear. We really need to learn form this, next week we have a strong opposition in the County Cup.

    Man of the Match: Jack
    Goal(s) Scored by: Tomx1, Kiarno x1, Adam R x3 , Rory x1
We new the match against Inter Cheadle would be untidy so we were prepared for it mentally. The opposition although had 10 players but they put up a good spirit and kept our team at bay so for first 15 minutes we were not able to find the back of the net. Eventually Tom found the back of the net and followed by Kiarno goal to seal the first half. Second half started with more team work and we put the opposition under pressure and Dam with a good control from the long pass by Allatt scored the third and forth followed shortly by him. Then Rory swapped the position with Tom to score the fifth and Adam sealed the match with last goal. Overall it was a good day out football for the lads but they should know not to let this kind of game give them false confidence and they have to work very hard if they want to maintain the position and success. Well done boys.

We always new some teams were geared up this season to play against us, but our lads were ready for any challenge from any team. The boys were up for it and start the game with attacking tactics to push the opponent back in their half and keep them their for most of the game. We played smart football and good passing and change on the ball to make opportunity for scoring goals. That didnít take long time with a well executed corner from Zak and a half volley from Aria to put the ball in the back of the net, then it was Kiarno with good build up to finish the move with smart goal.. The Adam Rossel with an individual work passed the keeper and a defender to put the ball in the net, in the second half Aria again with a long corner ball chest the ball in the net to seal the game. We conceded 2 goals which we gave away by our own mistakes. Overall very happy with all the boys performance and good and clean football. That is what you are capable of boys. Keep it going and well done.

We had to travel away for our first county cup match against Hollingworth. From the time we arrived we new we its going to be a tough challenge as all cup matches are. The pitch was very uneven and bumpy and opposition appointed ref wasnít what we expected. We started the game in good control of the ball and passing the ball and creating chances. In the first 15 minutes Tom put the ball in the back of the net with a good team work and then Mike had a good long shot to ease off the game. In the second half opposition were getting physical and tried to distract our lads but we kept our cool head on and through a well worked out attack Adam scored the third goal. Good game overall considering the lack of proper set up by the opposition. Well done boys and keep up the team work.

We new from last season the opposition were going to give us a hard time and ready for their first game of the season. We started the game well in control and kept them in their half for the first 15 minutes and created chances through our control of the ball and determination to get the result. First goal scored through a team work and setting Kiarno up to finish the ball at the back of the net. Then we sat back and opposition tried to score on counter attacks but good defending by our lads prevented them. Second half was more physical and challenging by both sides as the result 2 of the delamere players were booked. Half way on second half and a corner by Zak put Aria in perfect position to valley in the second goal. Overall a good performance by all players and good team work. Well done boys keep it going.

The second game of the season kicked off in a gloomy wet day. Our boys seemed ready and more than before relaxed and that exactly what they should do in every match. we started with control of the ball and passing, making opposition to do the running. in a quick opportunity Ross had a long shot to hit the cross bar, but in a good build up we scored the fist goal and after 15 minutes again with a team work we got the second goal to finish the first half. second half we lost the control for 10 minutes but regain the control and played the good controlled football. Tom, Sean and G-Mn were at their best but generally all the boys were fantastic and they are capable of doing a lot better. To finish deservingly 5-0, we should not let it fool us and keep on working hard as tough games yet to come. Cheers lads and well done

    Goal(s) Scored by: Gman x2, Adam R, Josh A, Tom W
We started the season at home with a well deserved win and high spirit which I expected from the boys. We proved ones again if we play as a team we can go long way this season. Game started with our lads in control of the ball and fluent football I know they are capable of. Most of the first 20 minute we were in opposition half and eventually good work and passing paid off and we were 1-0 up after 10 minutes and to follow by another one, so being 2-0 up the boys sat back and relaxed and opposition took advantage and came back at us and scored so 2-1 half time. We needed to wake up and rais our game which we did with attacking football and another 3 goals to finish them off on high (5-1). Well done boys we have a very strong team and we have to work harder on our physical fitness. We missed Kyle but he will be back next week and Tom has almost recovered from his illness, its good to have the squad back together in full.

This game was played at Priestnall but is to be counted as an away fixture for the Hurricanes as Signal had no available pitch

Eventually we got to our last match of the season. The boys turned up relaxed and they new they were the champion. We did not have Tom / Josh and Mike. As Aria was injured I just kept him on touch line in case if we needed him. The boys started very confident and good football although the pitch was terrible and uneven. We scored 2 very nicely worked goals and finished the half. In the second half the opposition tried very hard specially physical as it was almost getting out of hand so I had to tell the boys to take it easy as I did not want any injuries for the last game. so opposition scored 2 goals even they did not deserve but I am glad nobody got injured. Well done boys You should be very proud of yourselves and your parents. Thank you for your efforts and sportsmanship you shown throughout the season. It is my pleasure to work with you. Keep on with your fitness and will see you soon. Thank you Wendy for all your hard work and making things much easier for me and boys. And thank you Dave for helping me to keep the boys together and for the training.

This was our penultimate game of the season against a Poynton team who were fighting for runners up position in the league!

We decided not to celebrate our position as league winners at the weekend as it was important for the players to remain level headed and continue to play competitively with the desire to win, with 2 games still remaining.

They did not let themselves or the spectators down and ensured a comfortable win. Our big pitch allowed us to play Poynton off the park. Every players contribution was exceptional.

The evening ended with celebrations for all- Well done lads, League Champions. Last game on Sunday so let's finish in style!!!!

A typical end of season game where the boys appeared to be mentally and physically tired!

Great Moor B defended very well through out the game. At half time the score was 2-0 for Vulcans. We ended up winning 5-1 but this did not really reflect the overall quality of our peformance. Three goals came very late on in the second half.

Only 2 more games to go so don't let the standard of our play drop- continue to be competitive and play our normal standard of good football.

Yet another mid week away match through the worst of the rush hour traffic.

Vulcans boys showed grit and determination in a physical encounter. An early goal showed that Poynton were vulnerable to flick-ons at the near post and for all their industry in midfield they never really posed too much of an attacking threat. Our second goal before half time gave us breathing space but we couldn't increase our advantage in the second half and there was a short period after they scored from a penalty where we looked a little rattled.

The lads soon got organised and saw out the game to move us closer to the league title. Keep it up lads and let's not take anything for granted. Once again, thanks to all the parents and boys for their efforts.

One of the most difficult and tiring days in our season. With 4 players not available and a long journey we had to face a ready and strong opposition. We never liked to play in a small pitch and that was exactly that. Long balls from one end to another and they had big lads all over. We started the match with confusion as I had to move players to new positions. Opposition scored first goal in a matter of 10 minutes and then another in 15 minutes. It was then that our players changed the gear and saw their prides on the line and start attacking and we scored just before half time. In the second half after 5 minutes we scored the equalizer, but after that you could tell our lads were drained out and were really tired, opposition scored after 20 minutes into the second half on our ,,,,,,,,mistake. Then again it was only determination and pride of these boys who put up a fight 100% attacking none stop until last seconds of the extra time that we got the well deserved equalizer considering no subs tired boys and such a long journey. I would like to thank all the boys for the effort. Keeps it going lads.

The games are coming thick and fast as we approach the end of the season.

Bollington are a good side who give 100% so we had to be on our toes to avoid an upset. The boys didn't let us down and we didn't have to wait too long for a breakthrough. Continued pressure led to a penalty and a second goal. Bollington didn't give up and scored a goal before the break. Half time score 2 1.

Vulcans spent most of the second period in Bollington's half and it wasn't too long before we scored a third goal. Bollington continued to compete but we saw out the game comfortable winners, 3 1, in the end.

This week is going to be very demanding with some boys playing up to 5 more games by Sunday. Keep strong boys and rest as much as you can. Well done to everybody.

An early kick off but were the boys awake and ready for it ? YES they were!!

The result reflected our great standard of play and every player today should congratulate themselves on their individual performance

Defensively we were strong and competetive and didn't allow the opposition to take control. Our passing was more creative and despite the hard surface we were able to utilise the pitch to our advantage.

Some long balls enabled the centre forwards to work together and find the the back of the net. Well done to Pez for scoring 4 of them!

At last there is a light at the end of the tunel as we continue to catch up on so many matches that have been postponed this season. Our commitment and determination is paying off- let's keep up the good work and finish the season on a high!!!!

With a strong wind and a hard, bobbly pitch this was never going to be a classic.

We pressured the opposition from the start and soon this paid off with a fine headed goal followed quickly by a second. The game then became more disjointed with the ball spending too much time in the air. Half time 2 0.

We were better in the second half with more accurate passing and as a result created some good chances. Great Moor defended well but the pressure told and we eventually finished 4 0 winners.

Well done boys, lets keep it up to the end of the season.

This was a day I do not want to remember as it was far from the type of game and football our lads are capable to play. We new Vikings were well prepared for this game and even bringing new players in their squad but all these should not be used as an excuse for our boys to put up such a poor performance. Unfortunately on this day seemed everybody had their on tactics an strategy of the game and they did not play as a team.We were against physically stronger team and should have cover each others back,, we did not.All I can say the opposition had upper hand and we were lucky to get away with draw and they missed a penalty even not to forget such a poor refereeing did not help us at all either. We had our chances and we did not take them but after all this is football. Hopefully this would alarming us about our forthcoming matches and not to under estimate any team regardless.

Prestbury may only have been able to field 10 players but they gave us a shock when their lone stiker latched onto a long ball to score early in the game. It took us a while to settle but eventually the one man advantage began to tell and we got back into the game to finish the half 3 - 1 to the good.

Although Prestbury worked hard we were able to keep the pressure on them and create a number of good chances, finishing three of them to end the game 6 - 1.

Well done boys. We've got a really hectic end to the season so stay fit and keep working hard.

The first day of spring and what a lovely sunny morning!

The game started well for the Hurricanes with an early 2 goal lead but Stockport Vikings never let go and scored just before half time.

The second half was competetive and Hurricanes picked up a few injuries in the midfield and it wasn't long before Vikings equalised, 2-2. They proved to be a danger from set pieces and were difficult to defend in the air and eventually they took the lead through another header.

Hurricanes made some tactical changes and eventually were able to force an equaliser. The game appeared to be heading for a draw but our 'never say die' attitude eventually paid off with a very late goal.

    Well done to everyone!

A glorious spring afternoon as we arrived in Cheadle for an afternoon kick off.

The game started well and despite a number of missed opportunities to find the back of the net Gman eventually secured an early lead after 18 minutes. We maintained the upper hand and eventually scored again after 20 minutes and 25 minutes, 3-0 at half time.

The second half proved to be more of a challenge and a little dissappointing. Our game became a little scrappy but this was partly due to the poor surface and bobbling of the ball. We continued to battle on! Our football wasn't as good in the second half and passes were intercepted. The arrival of Cheadle's goal keeper raised their confidence and we allowed Cheadle to get back into the game and lowered our standard of play.

The game ended after conceding 1 goal but we were lucky it wasn't more. Another win but we need to learn from our experience and keep control throughout the match.

It was a great morning to wake up, No snow, No rain and to find that our trip to Bollington was still on!

The car journey over meant our boys were a little sleepy on arrival. Bollington came out of the starting blocks with an early goal to put them in the lead. Time for the Hurricanes to wake up, another slow start to our game. A generous hand ball decision meant Zac was able to place the ball on the penalty spot and find the back of the net- we were now awake- game on!

The first half was evenly balanced but the Hurricanes eventually found their stride and ended the first half with another goal, 1-2 at half time.

The second half was up hill all the way! Despite this Pez found his goal scoring feet and secured a well deserved hat-trick- Gman battled upfront and took a well deserved goal.

Well done boys but we need to ensure that we warm up well before the game, get focused early on and communicate with each other.

The day ended with a fine win from Mancherster United- what more could one wish for!!!!!

    Goal(s) Scored by:
Both teams started the game strongly but with only eleven players and a very heavy pitch under foot the Hurricanes found it difficult to play their passing game. It was clear from the start that the opposition were use to playing on such poor conditions and were able to use this to their advantage.

During the first half we had lots of half chances but we were not able to put them away. On the other hand Kyle had to make several good saves to keep us in the game. Half time at 0-0 the game was evenly matched. The second half carried on in much the same, both teams trying to play the long ball. Unfortunately Medlock eventually found the back of the net.

We pressed them strongly to try and come back but overcomitted ourselves and Medlock scored again about 3 minutes from the end.

This was a frustrating and dissappointing result that could have gone either way. However we need to move on from this and concentrate on our league games.

Great Moor arrived early ready for the game. They started the first half with great passion and a determination to win and dominate the play. The problem for the Hurricanes it that they were still in bed and hadn't woken up! For the first 20 minutes we were under pressure but thankfully Kyle had his thinking cap on and kept us out of jail!

Eventually we settled into our stride and scored 2 goals in quick succession and played out the rest of the first half strongly and managed to secure a third goal before half time.

It was no surprise that Great Moor were going to come out again fighting and to their credit they never gave up. They got their just desserts and scored, however we held on and eventually put the game to bed with a late goal just before the final whistle.

A lesson for all the boys is to remain level headed and play to the referee's whistle. Well done everyone!

At last we were able to play the next round of the County Cup but what was install for us? No matches played since mid December and no training due to the adverse weather conditions. How fit and competitive were the boys?

Despite losing their home advantage Swinton arrived bright and early.

Both teams didn't dissappoint and displayed some very competitive football. The Hurricanes started brightly and passed the ball well. We missed some half chances early on but the boys remained level headed and focused. Swinton came back into the game although they never really threatened and eventually our hard work and determination paid off in the second half.

In the closing minutes the keeper had to make a save and the rebound was put into the back of the net by Pez.

A great performance despite the long break and we were able to sustain the 80 minutes without flagging! Well done to everyone.

A very disappointing result for the Hurricanes.

We started the game very well creating a number of goal scoring opportunities. However, these missed chances eventually came back to haunt us! During the first half the boys looked like they were going to put the game to bed early but this wasn't to be the case. Signol held on in there until half time, in the second half they came out with the desire to win.

We lost our passion and creativity that we had displayed in the first half and it wasn't long before Signol took advantage of this and scored their first!

The end result was a reflection on how poor our second half performance was. This was mainly due to inaccurate passes and being second to the ball. The boys need to put this behind them, learn from it and pull together as a team and support each other.

At last we managed to play this County Cup fixture. We lost our home advantage as the game was postponed for 2 weeks, this also meant that the boys hadn't played together in a match for a total of 4 weeks.

Despite this gap the Hurricanes arrived bright and early, full of enthusiasm and determination to get the game started. We were not dissappointed! From the start, the team displayed the passion to win, by working together they soon found the back of the net.

At half time we were 3-0 up and deserved a well earned drink. The second half was a struggle due to the conditions. The ground was extremely muddy and cut up. All the team persevered, even though they were not able to play great football the hard work payed off and we ended with a comfortable win.

Despite the disadvantage of the wind against the players in the first half this didn't hinder the boys performance. Today the team played competetively against a strong Great Moor side. We played good football. As a team we passed the ball well, maintained our composure and postions on the pitch and actually communicated with each other.
The end result reflected that we were the better team and if we keep this up we should have a successful season.

This was a game high on effort and not so high on quality. We were playing a team that beat us last year and proved to be dangerous again when they put a good move together and scored a goal early in the first half.

Our boys responded well and began to dominate the game but there was always the threat of a break away from Delamere. After several near misses we eventually levelled the score with a goal from Tom.

In the second half it was one way traffic and it seemed like only a matter of time before the floodgates opened but we couldn't put the ball in the net and capitalise on our dominance.

It ended up a frustrating draw.

We had kicked off the season with a much needed win to boost our moral and confidence. At the start of the game we looked unsettled, players took a while to settle onto the ball and to string their passes together. However after the first 10 minutes we regained our composure, an opportunity came from a goal kick by kyle which was well controlled by G-man and finished off.
Our second goal came after pressure from the team, Ryan lobbed the keeper and the ball found its way into the back of the net.
In the second half we played much better, our passing was much more accurate and well controlled, we played more like the team of old. The game slowed down towards the end as we finished the match with a 2-0 victory and a good performance by the boys. We have to build on this win and continue to work harder, well done everybody

    Goal(s) Scored by: Tom, Pez
This was our last game of the season and had no bearing on our league position but was important as a morale booster for us to go out on a winning streak. For a time it looked an unlikely outcome.

We didn't start well and for twenty minutes hardly put two passes together. During this time we conceded a goal and could have gone further behind. Things improved and we finished the half even after Tom scored following up on a shot by Zak that hit the bar.

We thought that the boys would continue their improvement into the second half but in fact they came out in the same manner as they started the game and Poynton looked the more likely to score again. If it wasn't for some heroics from Kyle it may well have happened. As it was we weathered the storm and eventually came out winners after Pez headed the ball home from a corner.

Well done lads. Now enjoy a well earned rest.

This was another hard working perormance from our team as vikings were prepared to get something out of the game. We started the game with little confidence and it seemed that the boys were not really up for it and looked tired. After 15 minutes they started to play some good attacking football and putting the opposition under pressure, which we did throughout the second half. The match had mostly been played in the opposition's half with G-man, Josh A and Tom with good chances and Aria hitting the post but it was one of those days and the ball just would not go in the net. Vikings played very well defensilvely and fought hard to keep us out. Good competative game, although we deserved to get something out of it, but we had to settle for a draw. Thanks Ged for looking after the team on the day.

We needed to raise our game after the disappointment of Tuesday. The omens weren't good; the pitch was small and undulating, the sort of ground that we do badly on. Anyway, after a scrappy start and a few early scares we settled to play quite well. Josh A settled the nerves a bit when he scored and Pez made it more comfortable with a 2 goal lead before half time. Half time score 0 2 to Vulcans

This was probably the decisive match of the league season. We had to win to keep in the title race but after such an epic match on Sunday we seemed lacklustre and jaded. We have to give credit to Delamere who competed and got themselves back into the game after going behind to a Josh A goal in the first half. Delamere had more energy and desire on the night and won virtually all the headers and 50-50 balls.

We need to pick ourselves up, resume normal service and go out on a high by winning our remaining matches.

What a beautiful day for a cup final. The sun was shining and all was well with the world. We knew that this was going to be a difficult match without Zak, our midfield dynamo, but we also knew that the boys would rise to the challenge. They certainly didn't disappoint us!

The first half was a tight affair with our lads having to adjust to a new formation. They looked a bit nervous for a while but you could see them grow in confidence as the half progressed. We had a bit of a scare as a nasty clash of heads between Gman and Aiden saw Gman sidelined for the rest of the half. This forced even more changes in the midfield but we adapted and finished the first half in good shape. Half time 0 0.

The second half display was fantastic. Every single boy worked their socks off. They were winning battles all over the field and creating good chances against a resilient Poynton team. It was only a matter of time and sure enough Josh R scored a great goal after a lay back from Gman. Even though the conditions were hot our boys seemed able to raise the pressure and really take the game to Poynton. After a number of close shaves we scored another great goal, Aria put in a precise free kick for Tom to run onto and head home at the far post.

We had a few scares and Kyle had to make at least two excellent saves to tip over the bar but the defence were solid and snuffed out most of Poynton's attacks. In the latter stages of the game the team held a good shape and finished looking the more likely to score again. Full time 2 0 to Vulcans.

Well done lads and coaches, now let's go for the double.

It was a beautiful day for us to continue our fight for the title with a visit to Curzen Ashton.

As usual we let our football do the talking and were soon in the lead with a smart finish from Pez after some good work on the right. Aiden followed this up after cutting in from the left and firing home a shot with his right foot to beat the diving keeper. The half finished 2 0 to Vulcans.

In the second half the game became a bit scrappy although Vulcans still had most of the chances. Josh A finally delivered the knock out blow by scoring the third goal. Final score 3 0 to Vulcans

From our ringside position it wasn't a classic bout but we were well pleased with the points. Well done lads, again.

We had a bare eleven again and although it wasn't a classic game we must give credit to the boys for their grit and determination in coming up with another victory against a team who played some good football.

On the night the difference between the teams was in the quality of the final ball. Delamere showed some very good approach play but could not convert this into a real threat on goal. On the other hand we were often a bit scrappy but were able to convert our chances when they came.

Zak started us off with another brilliant free kick taken from quite a distance out. Josh A followed this up with a strong header which beat the keeper from close range to convert a corner kick. Half time 2 0 to Vulcans.

In the second half Delamere came out strongly and put the defence under quite a bit of pressure but they were up to it. There were a lot of stoppages for fouls and it was from one of these free kicks that Delamere came closest to scoring. It was only a fine save from Kyle diving to his right that kept them out. After some good work on the right, Tom got past his marker, cut inside and rolled the ball beyond the goalie to score. Delamere continued to push for a goal and it was only the lack of a decent finish that denied them a consolation. Full time 3 0 to Vulcans.

    Well done lads.

This wasn't one of our better performances. We didn't look comfortable on such a small, narrow pitch which squashed all the play in the middle. We normally do well from stretching the play and using our wings but there were few opportunities for that in this game. Having said that, we looked in control for much of the game and perhaps a bit of complacency might have set in during the second half.

On the other hand we have to give credit to Signol who picked up their game with a late performance that belies their current position in the league.

Prestbury could only field 10 players but they fought hard and never gave up, for which they should be congratulated.

Ultimately we were able to make the extra man pay and ran out handsome winners in the end. No doudt a full strength team would have given us a closer game but during this congested part of the season we could be forced to put out a weakened team and have to work extra hard for a result.

    Man of the Match: Zak
    Goal(s) Scored by: Zak, Pez
This was a repeat of the cup semi final in every way, a good, competitive game with nothing to separate the teams which ended with honours even again.

We were again hampered by injury and had to start the game with a reorganised back four. Wilmslow started strongly and this early pressure paid off when a clearance rebounded off one of their players to give them a lead. We soon got back into the game and had several good chances to go ahead before they conceded a penalty which Zak converted with power. Half time score 1 1.

Wilmslow had some very quick forwards but weren't able to release them to any good effect for much of the game but their second goal showed how dangerous they were on the break, a long ball over our defence was seized on by their number 9 who scored from the six yard line. They tried this tactic a few more times but a combination of poor finishing and last ditch defending kept them out.

A tactical switch gave us more width and this ultimately led to a free kick out on the right, which was headed home by Pez. We looked capable of nicking a win but the game was eventually played out to a draw. Final score 2 2.

The boys are to be congratulated for their fighting performance in coming back from behind twice in the match. Well done!

    Great Moor A - 1 Vs 4 - Reddish Vulcans
Man of the Match: Josh A
Goal(s) Scored by: Tom, Zak, Josh A (2)
This was another big game that we had to win against a strong team going well in the league.

We started as we finished last week, playing some very good football which had Great Moor under pressure from the off. It didn't take long for the pressure to pay off as Tom met a well driven corner to score with his head. This was followed fairly quickly with a superbly taken free kick from Zak that beat the keeper from 30 yards out. After that we seemed to lose our way a bit and Great Moor were able to get back into the game and have us scrambling about to defend on a number of occasions. One of these attacks paid off as a ball whipped across from the right was deflected into the net for an unfortunate own goal. The rest of the first half was a little twitchy as Great Moor pressed to draw level. Half time 2 1 to Vulcans.

After the half time talk the boys came out in a more confident mood putting together some good passing moves and taking the game to Great Moor. Once more we became the dominant side spending more and more time in Great Moor's half and it was only a matter of time before we were on the score sheet again. This time it was Josh A who drove towards the bye line on the left and tucked it between the keeper and the near post for a neat finish. It was Josh A again who netted after some very sharp passing on the right cut through Great Moor's defence.

This was another good performance that once again demonstrated the quality that we have throughout our team. The game became a bit fractious in the second half and although we may not agree with some decisions we have always benefitted from our own good discipline on the field.

Finaly, a big 'thank you' to Jake who warmed the boys up before the game and geed them up throughout it.

What a game! Both teams can be proud of themselves for producing an epic tie that could have gone either way with a moment of brilliance or a moment of madness. Luckily we had Aria on the pitch and not Vidic so there were no moments of madness.

All the boys played their hearts out and even though Wilmslow had some good passages of play Vulcans were the stronger team overall. Wilmslow played to their strengths and tried to get their fast front players on the ball as much as possible but we had a hard working midfield and a solid defence to blunt their attacks. Both teams passed the ball well and a lot of the good work on both sides tended to cancel each other out.

There were very few clear cut chances but we had an opportunity to put it to bed late in the match unfortunately Allat's shot hit the bar and rebounded clear.

Extra time came and went, then it was all down to penalties - heros and villains time. Five superb penalties ( and two good saves) later and Vulcans had won it!

    Fantastic!!

    Vulcans - 3 Vs 3 - Great Moor B
    Man of the Match: Aria
Goal(s) Scored by: Josh Ainscough (3)
Great Moor took us by surprise with an early goal but this was a wake up call and we then took control of the game. We had some good opportunities to draw level but couldn't convert any of these chances until just before half time when Josh A side footed into the net. Half time score 1 1.

This was a game that we should have killed off when Josh A scored another two to make it 3 1 up half way through the second half. But with a bare eleven and two injured players on our side Great Moor were able to take advantage of the situation and draw level. We couldn't hold on to the ball, giving away possession in dangerous areas, and were punished for it.

For most of the game Vulcans were the better team so let's put it behind us and move on.

    01/03/2009 - Metro Cup
    Vulcans - 3 Vs 0 - Droylesden
    Man of the Match: Dan
Goal(s) Scored by: Tom (2), Pez
This was our first game for several weeks so it was important to get off to a good start.

The lads didn't disappoint and we were soon on top with most of the early posession. Vulcans were passing the ball around well and one such move down the right saw some intricate interplay between the midfielders which was eventually finished of well by Tom on the stretch. We continued to make most of the early running and were rewarded with another goal from Tom, this time with his left foot. Several more chances came and went during the half which eventually ended 2 0 to Vulcans.

The second half performance became a bit scrappy. We stopped passing the ball well and began to give it away too easily to Droylesden who began to look more competitive. We didn't look like we were going to concede even at this stage but our fluency of the first half just wasn't there. Eventually we picked it up again and Pez put the game out of sight with a third goal.

Final score 3 0 to Vulcans. Well done lads and good luck in the semi finals.

    Vulcans - 1 Vs 0 - Great Moor A
    Man of the Match: Aiden
    Goal(s) Scored by: G-man
This was one of those games where it looked like we would never score although we could have had a hat full of goals.

The boys played well against a very competitive Great Moor side who were quite physical in their approach. We had lots of good chances to score but the ball seemed destined to stay out of the net so it was with some relief that we were able to eventually make our pressure pay with a close finish from G-man.

    Well done lads.

    Vulcans - 2 Vs 2 - Wilmslow
Man of the Match: Josh Ainscough
    Goal(s) Scored by: Pez, Aiden
What a match! Thrills, spills and all the fun of the fair. This was a game that had everything and more importantly signalled a return to form and reminded us what a good team we really are.

It promised to be a really tough game and sure enough it was competitive from the kick off but we had the better of the early exchanges and had Wilmslow defending for much of the period with a few good opportunities to score. Having said that, Wilmslow always looked dangerous on the break and sure enough they got back into the game putting our defence under increasing pressure before going one up. Half time 1 0 to Wilmslow.

The second half saw us regain the upper hand and draw level with a goal from Pez following up a shot by Zak. We were on a roll now and Wilmslow had more and more defending to do. A good passing move saw us go ahead with a goal from Aiden. We seemed home and dry but Wilmslow managed to score a (very) late equaliser to deny us all the points.

Great performance and nearly a great result. Keep it up lads and well done.

    Vulcans - 8 Vs 0 - Disley
    Man of the Match: Aiden
Goal(s) Scored by: Josh, G-man(2), Zak, Danny, Sean, Aiden(2)
After a bit of a delay waiting for the referee we started the game in a bright fashion. By half time we were 4 0 up after a good period of play with some good passing moves. However, this half time score didn't reflect the number of missed opportunities to score. Disley's goal keeper did them proud to keep the score respectable.

The second half performance was disappointing despite running out as 8 0 winners. The team lost its shape and and too many people were trying to get on the score sheet.

The boys need to get their fitness back and to get back to basics in training if we are not to slip up against our nearest rivals.

    Droylsden - 0 Vs 5 - Vulcans
    Man of the Match: Allat
Goal(s) Scored by: Pez(2), Ross, Aria, Aiden
This match was played at home because Droylsden's pitch was frozen, our's was just about playable but it didn't provide a surface for good football.

We put Droylsden under pressure for large parts of the game and ended the first half 3 0 to the better. In the second half Droylsden did well to keep us out but eventually went down 5 0 by full time.

    14/12/2008 - Metro Cup
    Juno - 0 Vs 13 - Reddish Vulcans
    Man of the Match: Pez
Goal(s) Scored by: Sean (2), Brandon, Ross, Aria (2),G-man (2), Ryan, Pez, Kyle, Josh, o.g.
Even with an experimental line-up the boys were able to win 13 - 0 once they got going. Of course, an opening own goal helps but the difference in class was there for all to see.

To be fair to Juno their players tried hard and didn't let their heads drop but our boys were relentless and could have scored even more.

The next game will be more challenging and we need to maintain our fitness and concentrate on our passing game which in the past has given us the edge.

    30/11/2008 - Metro league
    Reddish Vulcans - 8 Vs 0 - Bollington
    Man of the Match: Tom
    Goal(s) Scored by: Brandon (4), G-man (3), og (1)
We got back to winning ways after last week's disappointment.

This was a much improved performance, especially in the first half. There was a lot of controlled play with good, accurate, crisp passing which was mostly in Bollington's half and kept the opposition under pressure for long periods.

With a comfortable 5 0 lead at half time our boys seemed to take their foot off the gas a bit and a few more errors crept into the play. Even so we scored 3 more during this period of play so perhaps its a bit mean to criticise but we need to be on top form against other contenders for the league title.

Congratulations to Brandon and G-man for their hat tricks and well done to Aria who is maturing as our captain.

    23/11/2008 - County Cup
    Reddish Vulcans - 3 Vs 5 - Moston Juniors
    Man of the Match: Aria
Goal(s) Scored by: G-man, Aria, Zak
In some ways we were unlucky to get knocked out of the cup. At times we played some good stuff but there were too many mistakes and too many occasions when we stopped passing and hoofed the ball around aimlessly.

Moston went behind to an early goal from G-man and for about 15 minutes we looked the better team but they began to boss the midfield and seemed to pick up all the loose balls. After Moston scored they grew in confidence and became more physical while we seemed to lose our composure.

In the end we couldn't quite get back into it. The last 10 minutes saw us put up a spirited fight-back but it was too late.

    16/11/2008 - Metro League
    Reddish Vulcans - 5 Vs 0 - Signol
    Man of the Match: G-man
Goal(s) Scored by: Aria, Pez (3), Zak
The least said the better about this game.

Signol put up a spirited performance even though they played most of the game with 10 men. We were completely out of sorts. We couldn't string two passes together and all that made last week's performance so good was totally lacking in this game.

5 0 did not reflect the what was (or wasn't) happening on the pitch.

Let's pick it up again for next week or we will be in for a torrid time against Moston.

    Man of the Match: Zak
    Goal(s) Scored by: Brandon 3, Pez 1, Josh 1, Tom 1 G-Man1
This was more like it. We started the game slowly and gone under presur by Vikings for first 10 minutes. But boys didnt lose their heads and kept their composure and slowly got back into the game. They have stardt putting passes together and switching the game as they have been asked. All I can say without going into details is, that was very sweet and enjoyable football to watch. All the players were fantastic and proved it again why they are the best in the league if not in the North west, and that is not exaggeration. Well done boys.

    26/10/2008 - Metro League
    Reddish Vulcans - 3 Vs 1 - Curzen Ashton
    Man of the Match: Dan
Goal(s) Scored by: Gman, Brandon, Tom
We started the game with a few players missing and no subs.

The early minutes were dominated by Vulcans and before long we were ahead through a Gman goal. Gradually, we seemed to let Curzen Ashton get back into the game and paid the price when they scored to level.

This seemed to liven up the boys and it wasn't too long before we restored our advantage when Brandon controlled a cross from the left to turn and shoot low into the net.

A third goal wasn't too long in coming when Tom beat the defender to a through pass to score from the left. Half time score 3 1.

It looked like we would go on to improve our score in the second half but the game fizzled out into a disappointing stale mate. We finished the game with 10 players as Danny had to come off with a painful injury that he carried bravely for several minutes before finally leaving the field. Final score 3 1 to Vulcans.

The performance was a bit disappointing but 5 wins out of 5 is still good going. Well done boys.

    12/10/2008 - County Cup
    Reddish Villa - 1 Vs 5 - Reddish Vulcans
    Man of the Match: Aria
Goal(s) Scored by: Tom (2), Aidan, Brandon, Pez
This was a better performance all round than last week's. We put Villa under pressure from the start and got our reward with Tom scoring a couple of goals in the first quarter. We continued to press, making several good chances but the half finished 2 0 to Vulcans.

Soon after the restart Villa scored and for a while this gave them added confidence but the lads took this as a wake up call and once again imposed themselves on the game. Aiden restored our advantage with a well taken goal. Brandon made it 4 1 with a thunderous drive into the net from distance and Pez put the icing on the cake to finish the game 5 1.

Well done, lads. This could be the start of another good cup run (or two!).

    05/10/2008 - Metro League
    Reddish Vulcans - 3 Vs 0 - Poynton
    Man of the Match: Dan
Goal(s) Scored by: Gman, Aria, Zac
Poynton could only field ten players but you would never have guessed in the first half when we struggled to play our usual passing game. Gman scored the first goal after showing good strength and persistence in the box and managing to shoot from the ground.

Saeed had strong words with the boys at half time which hit home and the second half performance was much better. We began to put together some good moves and had the opposition under pressure for long periods but to their credit Poynton passed the ball around very well and created some good attacking play that had to be well defended.

The second goal came from an Aria header following up to put Brandon's rebound away. The third was another Zac special that hit the underside of the bar on its way in.

Well done lads. Let's keep up the winning habit.

    28/09/2008 - Metro League
    Great Moor B - 0 Vs 6 - Reddish Vulcans
    Man of the Match: G-man
Goal(s) Scored by: Ryan, Tom, Aiden(2), Pez, Aria
It took the boys a few minutes to settle into a rhythm and start passing the ball around. There was a lot of physical play in the midfield with G-man and Zac putting themselves about and giving the opposition no time on the ball.

Gradually we started to put some good passing moves together. The first goal came from a ball down the right from Tom putting Ryan through to score well. We were playing some good football and stretching the opposition so the second goal was just a matter of time. G-man kept the ball in on the left touchline and put in a good cross for Tom to side-foot home at the far post. There were lots of decent chances during the rest of the first half but no more goals.

Half time 2 0 to Vulcans.

In the second half we continued to dominate. Pez had a shot that was a bit off target but Aiden ran in to nod the ball home from the left. Pez got his own goal a few minutes later when he beat the defence with his speed and slotted the ball away well. Aria was able to silence the opposite touchline with a well taken far post HEADER from Zac's inch perfect corner. Zac was getting plenty of space to fire in some good efforts on goal and although he didn't score it was from one of these that led to the final goal. The keeper couldn't hold on to Zac's shot and Aiden put in the rebound.

Well played the whole team, keep it up.

    Vulcans - 2 Vs 1 - Droylesden
Man of the Match: Sean Pickford
    Goal(s) Scored by: Ryan, Brandon
This was our first home game and the first game since moving leagues so we wanted to carry on from last week's good start.

The boys started well and passed the ball around to good effect. We were soon 1 up after a good surging run from Ryan was finished off with a well struck shot that beat the keeper.

After the goal Droylesden came more into the game and for a period there was a lot of loose play with neither side able to get the ball down and under control. Gradually Vulcans gained the upper hand and put Droylesden under more pressure. We had several decent chances before Brandon eventually made it 2 - 0 with a well struck shot to finish off a mazey run through their defence.

In the second half Droylesden worked hard to get back into the game and competed for every ball. Vulcans still had plenty of chances but it was Droylesden who were able to convert. They won a free kick and got one back from this. For the rest of the half Vulcans were on the back foot but were able to see out the game 2 - 1.

Unicorn Athletic - 2 Vs 5 - Reddish Vulcans Huricanes
Man of the Match: Tom Webb
Goal(s) Scored by: Tom (2), Zak, Pez, Gman
The start of a new season and the changes of management were also reflected in the team lineup. Several boys were missing for this opening game so some players had to move from their usual positions and everybody had to adapt to a new system.

Welcome to Pez (James Perry) who joins us this season and well played in your first game.

The game started brightly and it soon seemed like service as normal for Vulcans with an early goal. Tom scored after a challenge that led to the defender losing the ball in front of goal. This was very quickly followed by another goal. Gman was taken out after making a determined run from midfield. Zac took the free kick which was too good for their keeper.

Our midfield and forward line kept up the pressure on Unicorn with some good passing moves. They were able to keep us out for a while but the inevitable happened with a marvelous move from Vulcans that cut through their defence. Some terrific passing around their defenders put in Pez who took his chance well.

To their credit Unicorn did not give up and they started to put us under pressure as we approached half time. We seemed to panic a little and balls that we dealt with well in the early part of the game were going Unicorn's way. They began to play with more belief and closed us down well. Some decent play down their left led to a high cross that was challenged for, Kyle saved but the ball was put back in and a goal was given. Half time came with the score 1 - 3 to Vulcans.

After the break Vulcans went back onto the attack but Unicorn were a more competitive side now. Even so we were pressing them and soon we had our reward, Tom managed to get in a decent cross from the right which Gman put away expertly with his head. We continued to play some good football and midway through the second half the pressure from Vulcans took its toll, Ross fired in a good cross from the left, Tom headed for goal which the keeper saved but he was able to follow up and put in the rebound.

The game was won but some sloppy defending from a corner led to Unicorn's second goal of the game. Final score 2 - 5 to Vulcans.

Well done boys but let's cut out the errors because we are going to have tougher games than this during the season.

Following the exhuberance of Saturday's trip to the Walkers Stadium, it was touch and go as to how the boys were going to get on in this the last game of the league season.

The match got off to a great start and the team was really up for it, determined to go out on a high. They played some great football and we 2-1 up at half time, following an og and a good finish from Aiden. Fletcher's goal coming from a counter attack.

In the second half, Vulcans stepped up another gear and continued to play well. The goals then came thick and fast, and really there could have been more.

It was a fantastic way to finish another amazing season, in which we have continued to surpass all expectations. The league has been tough and we have really enjoyed having some nail biting matches. Time to gather our thoughts now and enjoy the celebrations at the Vulcans presentation night.

Well done boys, you have been superb!!!!

This was the boys showing that they have overcome the "blip" of the last couple of games and are back to winning form.

The final was played at Trafford FC, which was a great set up for the boys to play in. The pitch was in good condition and with the sun beating down the scene was set for a fantastic match!!!

There have been some great games between these 2 sides this season, and again we were not disappointed. It started off evenly matched and both teams looked ready to go. However, the football of Vulcans started to shine and by half time it was 2-0.

The Broadheath keeper really came into his own during the match and kept the score at 2-0 with some great saves with every part of his body from his head to his feet, he was deserving of his Broadheath MOTM award.

From start to finish the Vulcans played well, each and every one of them did their bit. There was some lovely football in parts and again Zak's prowess at the dead ball situation put Broadheath under pressure every time.

It was lovely to see the boys back to playing so well, congratulations to them and Ged. Off to Leicester on Saturday to represent the north of England in the Tesco Nationals. Good luck lads, just play like you did in this match!!!

That was a match that was made for the impartial spectator!!!

Twenty minutes in and Vulcans were 3-0 up. Although Broadheath had a shot go just wide and hit the bar. A fairer scoreline at that point would probably have been 2-2. From that point the opposition still showed that they were not going to give up, and getting their first goal back gave them even more confidence to keep going.

By half time it was 3-3, and time for everyone to take a breather, spectators included.

The second half continued where the first had finished and it looked like there were many more goals in the match. Vulcans got the first of them, but it never looked like it would end there, and true enough Broadheath pulled it back again. At 4-4 is seemed to be a fair reflection of the match, but again Broadheath showed real spirit, and with just a couple of minutes to go they got the winner.

A game that was all but over within the first 5 minutes. Vulcans were straight off the mark and scored within a minute. It looked like it was going to be a great match for Vulcans.

The second goal came not long after and seemed to put the result beyond question. Unfortunately, the 2 goals so early on meant that the boys seemed to relax a bit too much and it was a while before anything else seemed to happen. It all went a bit flat.

The third goal, still within the first half, definitely put the result beyond question and it was hard for the boys to maintain their motivation in the second half.

A penalty allowed Unicorn to get a goal back, after which they had a couple of chances. The score remained 3-1, although we did hit the post on a couple of occassions.

Not an emphatic victory, but 3 points none the less. The takes us to 50 points for the season. Even at this stage a fantastic performance in our first season in this league. No prizes yet though,so keep it up boys and let's keep adding three points per match.

After a long day on Saturday, winning the Tesco Cup, it was a worry that the boys might have been struggling on Sunday. Thankfully, the worry was for nothing, and despite a few aches and pains the team were raring to go.

The match started off at a fast pace and our boys were onto everything. They just seemed to attract the ball like magnets. There were some great performances which, in the first half especially, saw a fantastic display down the left. A couple of great goals made us look comfortable early on, but a slight hick-up let Barr Hill pull a goal back.

That could have caused the boys to worry, but they came out in the second half in the same frame of mind that they started the first and made the game theirs with two further goals.

It was a great performance all round, with all the players doing their part.

    Well done boys.

Although this fixture should have been at home, the need for us to fit our remaining matches in has meant we are being flexible.

It wasn't a great performance from the boys as everyone seemed flat and lethargic. We were unlucky in that we hit the woodwork three times during the match, but that is the best we can claim from a disappointing evening.

With the Tesco Cup, Northern Region Finals on Saturday, it is to be hoped that the boys have more life to them then.

The first of our catch up games as we start to play midweek to make up for postponed matches. This was going to be a new test for the lads.

Barr Hill started quickly and were the first to everything. This made our boys hurry on the ball and seemed to take them by surprise for the first 10 minutes and then they settled into the game. Both teams looked evenly matched in a tense first half. It looked for a while like no-one would break the deadlock. Barr Hill were unlucky hitting the crossbar. The first half drew to a close at 0-0.

I don't know what Ged said at half time, but the boys came out looking like a different team in the second half. They showed more urgency and were getting to balls they would have been second to in the first half. Having said that it looked like one goal was going to win the game for a long time.

The breakthrough came for Vulcans with a fantastic Zak corner that curved straight in. Fantastic. The goal lifted the boys and their confidence started to show in their football. They didn't have to wait long for the second and Aiden got on the end of ball from Tom. The second goal seemed to knock Barr Hill but they never gave up the game. The third goal was a great finish from Ryan. It could have been 4 but for an amazing stop by Barr Hill's keeper.

Another game where the fitness levels of Vulcans paid off. This seems to be the difference in some of our matches. Keep on working hard in training boys.

Not the best game that the boys have played, it wasn't a great performance but it is the result that counts at the end of the day.

The boys took a while to get going and they struggled to find their usual rhythm. However, they kept plugging away and the goals started to come. It was good to see that they didn't give up and it paid dividends.

Whilst the scoreline at first sight appears flattering given the performance, on the whole it was a fair reflection.

League Cup Final next week, so we really need to up our game for that match.

    30/03/2008 - County Cup - FINAL
    Middleton Boys - 0 Vs 2 - Reddish Vulcans
Man of the Match: Gman - chosen by the referee
Goal(s) Scored by: Aria & Tom
It was always going to be a tough game. With the boys having played the semi on Saturday, would they physically be up to it? Then add in opposition we knew would be tough to beat and this lead to various degrees of nervous tension amongst the parents!!!

When kick off arrived, Middleton came out of the blocks at a canter, and were on top for the first ten minutes. However, once the Vulcans came into the game it looked very evenly matched. The first half goal came from a Zak corner that wasn't cleared, and Tom's pass back into the box was slotted away by Aria. It was hard to judge what was louder, the cheers or the release of tension from the sidelines.

As the game continued, Kyle took charge of his area and met the corners strongly. The defense as ever were tough to break down and there wasn't much got past them. Playing in front of that back 5 must give the rest of the team real confidence going forward.

Gman was sublime in midfield, strong and skilful and well deserving of his man of the match award which was chosen by the referee. The rest of the midfield were comfortable on the ball and passed well. The boys at the front looked like we were going to score more than the one goal.

The second goal came from an unfortunate error at the back which let Tom in, and he took his chance and finished cooly. At 2-0 Middleton were still going for it, but we weren't going to let that lead go.

A fantastic result which the boys have deserved for the way they have played this season. A big thank you to Ged for continuing to manage and inspire them week after week, to Saeed for his coaching and a special mention to Jason, whose fitness training has really started to come into its own as the season goes on.

It was lovely to see so many people turn out to watch the match, with extended families coming out to cheer on the boys, I am sure they are grateful for the continued support they receive.

Time to focus forwards now boys, we still have another final to play and a league season to finish. Let's hope there will be more cause for celebration.

WOW - how well did the boys play today?

The County Cup semi-final always threatened to be a tough match, but the start the boys had soon calmed the nerves of the manager and parents.

Clearly ready for kick off, within 10 minutes Vulcans had a 3-0 lead, thanks to Gman & Brandon(2). Whilst all the boys played well, there were some excellent performances in the midfield from Gman and Aiden, this earned them their MOTM status. Also a special mention to Brandon for his 4 goals in a match that was the best he has had for us to date.

Middleton pulled a goal back at 5-0. Firstly they were awarded a penalty which Kyle saved, but they scored not long after. Just a consolation goal as Brandon made it 6-1.

It was great to see Vulcan's managers from other age groups their supporting the Hurricanes, thanks for your support. A special thanks also to Ron Jones for the effort he put in to getting the match scheduled.

That's 2 finals now boys. Well done!!!

    Broadheath Central - 1 Vs 2 - Reddish Vulcans
Man of the Match: Sean & Aria
Goal(s) Scored by: Ryan & Zak
A match that was arranged at short notice, thanks to the Broadheath manager for sorting it out.

It was a definite battle of the top teams, with neither team giving much away. Both defenses were solid and it was some great individual skill from G-man that led to Ryan's goal. The second was a real Zak special which would have left any keeper stranded.

Broadheath pulled one back in the second half with a penalty that was well despatched. However, Vulcans looked good for the win, and in truth it could and should have been more than 2.

The first of a trio of matches for these 2 teams, let's hope that the others end up in the same results.

    Wilmslow Sports - 0 Vs 8 - Reddish Vulcans
    Man of the Match: Brandon
Goal(s) Scored by: Brandon 3, Gman 2, Aria, Ryan & Dan
We had an exhibition today of how Reddish Vulcans can play when all the boys are at the top of their game.

Right from the outset, the boys looked ready for the match and eager to get off to a good start against the only team to have beaten them this season. There was some wonderful passing and the first goal came from one of Zak's great corners. At half time the score was 4-0 but the boys have suffered from second half come backs against Wilmslow before, so weren't taking anything for granted.

The second half matched the first, and in all honesty could have ended in double figures which wouldn't have been an injustice. There were times when Wilmslow looked dangerous on the attack, but the defense had another great game and protected their keeper well.

Hurricane's first final in the T&D League, let's hope the boys can play like they did today.

Reddish Vulcans - 6 Vs 0 - Ashton on Mersey
    Man of the Match: Zak
Goal(s) Scored by: Ryan 2, Zak, Tom, Brandon & Josh
On a day when the wind was always going to be a big factor, it was vital that the boys kept the ball on the floor where possible.

In the first half the Vulcans had the benefit of the wind. This meant that Ashton's keeper was struggling to get the ball out of his own half, but also that any forward pass from our boys was in danger of going straight out. It took a few long passes for the boys to adjust, but once they got the balance and started to play the kind of football we know they can, they soon got on top. By half time it was 4-0, but could have been more. Ashton's keeper had a good match and kept the score line down.

In the second half with the wind against, the Vulcans had to make sure they were passing along the floor. Whenever the ball did go up in the air it was being whipped into the Vulcan's half.

Despite the conditions, Vulcans played some superb skillful football and were comfortable in possession. The scoreline was well deserved and the chances taken well. Zak earned his MOTM through sheer hard work and determination. He gave 100% and it paid off.

    Man of the Match:
Goal(s) Scored by: Zak 2, Brandon & Aiden
WOW!!!! One of the best games of Junior football you are ever likely to witness. For any neutrals this would have been an fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning.

Despite the wet and murky conditions, both teams were intent on playing a terrific game of football, and that's what they did.

It was very hard to split the two teams, Bar Hill were clearly comfortable on the ball and showed some excellent touches. Their number 18 really standing out as having some excellent skills. Bar Hills good play was then compounded by Vulcan's desire to give the ball away, which they did on too many occassions, putting un-necessary pressure on the defense. Kyle had a good day in goal, and made some great saves.

There was no man of the match awarded, as although it was a good match to watch, Vulcans were not at their best and their passing was not up to its usual high standard.

The 2 teams have yet to meet in the league, so 2 more great matches to look forward to. Our boys need to get back to their best in time for those games.

    Reddish Vulcans - 9 Vs 1 - Dean's Sports
    Man of the Match: Ross
Goal(s) Scored by: Ryan 3, Josh 2, Zak, Brandon, Aria & Tom
A fantastic result on a drama filled day!!!

It was like watching a different team than the one who played Dean's Sports a fortnight ago in the cup. The boys played some excellant football and were worthy winners.

From the start the Vulcans looked ready and on top of their game and it was 4-0 at half time. A half that had seen Josh coming off, followed by a visit to casualty. Pleased to announce that it was a sprain and not a break as we had feared.

In the second half the boys once again turned on the style and were good for their 9 goals. It was a lapse in defensive concentration that allowed Dean's to get a consolation goal late on.

After such a start to the day, who would have predicted the mood Ged would end the day in as he watched his second favourite team get beaten by City. Just to clarify - the Vulcans are obviously his favourite!!!

A difficult match as the boys were not on top form, but they got the win they deserved overall.

It was always going to be difficult against a team who were set up to defend, but the Hurricane's didn't make life any easier for themselves. A goal in each half settled the nerves, but it should have been more.

The offside trap was used to its best advantage and it was a trap that we couldn't help falling into. A classroom lesson in the next training session!!!

Overall a disappointing performance, but a win is a win especially in a cup competition.

This is the match that has been our bogey match in the past. The first match after Christmas - County Cup. The Christmas break hasn't served the boys well in the past. What a different story it was this time!!!

From the outset the boys looked ready and eager. The fitness training over the festive period made sure that no-one was sluggish. Thanks Jason!!! It was a great performance from all the boys. From Kyle in goal, who made a cracking save at 0-1, through the defense, midfield and the front men.

Strength and comfort on the ball shined and the boys passed the ball around well. It was a great performance from all the team - well done boys. Here's to the next round!!!

    16/12/2007 - Timperely & District League
    Reddish Vulcans - 5 Vs 0 - Wythenshawe Town
Man of the Match: No one individual could be selected after such a great team performance
Goal(s) Scored by: Josh, Aria, G-man, Ryan & Brandon
    An fantastic match to watch!!

A frosty morning which saw the parents thinking they were going to have to join in to keep themselves warm!!! That wasn't necessary, as the enjoyment of watching an excellant performance could have warmed anyone. The boys played some beautiful passing football, and were strong in the challenges that would have seen weaker teams buckle under the pressure.

The first 2 goals were perfectly executed corners from Zak, being sweetly met by Josh in the first instance and then Aria for the second. Gman followed those with a lovely individual goal. The boys looked comfortable going forward, and the defense was able to hold off the attacks that came from Wythenshawe.

The second half saw the boys continue where they had left off, and if was great to see Ryan's hard work pay off with his first Vulcan's goal. He linked up well in the match with Brandon, and he got the goal that made it five.

A fantastic end to 2007 for the boys, who are showing that they can hold their own in this tough league.

Well done boys, have a great Christmas!!

    Reddish Vulcans - 2 Vs 2 - Stretford Vics
    Man of the Match: Sean
Goal(s) Scored by: Aiden & Josh
A really difficult match, in very heavy conditions. The boys did not play their best football and started off sluggish. The heavy ground seemed to make playing their lovely flowing football more difficult.

Goals again scored by Aiden & Josh seemed to set us up to score more, but more didn't come. A draw was a fair result as Stretford seemed to want it more.

A good debut performance for Ryan, who looks like he will be a handful for the opposition.

    Unicorn Athletic 'B' - 0 Vs 8 - Reddish Vulcans
    Man of the Match: Zak

Another fantastic performance from the boys. Each and every one of them passed the ball beautifully and were worthy winners. Credit to Unicorn though, even at 8-0 they didn't give up, and Kyle had a few saves to make.

From the start the boys looked great going forward, the first goal was a counter attack, but Dan didn't look like missing.

It was an excellant match played in a good spirit, and the boys once again did themselves proud.

Man of the Match: Allatt & James
Goal(s) Scored by: Aiden 2, Dan, Zak, Brandon & Allatt
    Another fantastic result from Vulcans.

The match started slowly and Unicorn were pushing hard in the first half, when yet again Aiden broke the deadlock and we went in 1-0 up at half time.

The half time talk seemed to get the boys going and they came out in the second half all guns blazing. There were some really good individual performances, but the best bit was seeing the boys at their best playing fast paced flowing football.

    Well done boys.

Fletcher Moss Blues - 3 Vs 4 - Reddish Vulcans
Man of the Match: Gman & Aiden
Goal(s) Scored by: Brandon 2, Aiden & Zak
A really good, competitive game of football!!

It was frustrating to watch at the start of the match if you were a Vulcans fan as some of the boys still seemed to be half asleep. It certainly wasn't one of their best starts to a match, but half way through the first half Aiden got us off the mark with a fantastic header.

Unfortunately, as they say, it is always a dangerous time when you have just scored, and Fletcher Moss got one back almost straight away. Lack of communication at the back seemed to be the problem.

The second half got off to a better start, with the boys seemingly coming alive. It seemed comfortable as we went 4-1 up. Unusually, the ship didn't seem as tight, and we let Fletcher back into it.

A worthy result in the end, but nails were starting to be bitten!!!

    04/11/2007 - County Cup

Man of the Match: Aiden (Mgr) & G-man (Ref)
Goal(s) Scored by: Brandon 3, Josh 3, Aria 2, Ross, G-man, Allatt, Zak, Sean & Aiden
A lovely winters morning, and the Hurricanes showed more fire works than had been seen at most displays the night before!!!

Urmston were pinned in their own half from the outset, but frustratingly it took Hurricanes about 20 minutes to break the deadlock. However, once one went in it looked like the dam would burst. It was a fantastic display of football, with some excellant touches and great passing moves from back to front. The team were good for the result.

To give Urmston credit, they never stopped playing and the score could have been more but for some good saves by their keeper.

Man of the match was a difficult decision with all the players having a good game, but Aiden played some excellant football down the left and looked like he was ready to go from the off. The referee picked out G for his performance in the first half, when he played some amazing touches and linked the defense with the attack beautifully.

Well done boys, it is always good to see you at your best!!!

A great game of football on a lovely sunny Sunday morning. What else were weekends made for?

A couple of screamers from Zak got the scoring under way in our first meeting with Ashton-on-Mersey. It was a great pitch and allowed the boys to pass the ball and play football. Ross added to the scoring in the first half. The clean sheet was maintained with a fantastic save from Kyle from a great free-kick effort. Aiden added the final goal in the second half.

An excellant game of football that saw Vulcans taking the chances that came their way. A superb goal from Zak being the highlight.

Fletcher Moss didn't allow Vulcans to have it all their own way and tested the keeper on a few occassions. Kyle rose to the challenge and kept a clean sheet. In the end Vulcans pulled through against one of the top sides in the league, well done lads.

An outstanding game of end to end football. This kind of match was the reason we joined Timperely & District League!!!

It was a disappointment to us all to lose in the league for the first time in 3 years, but we have to acknowledge that Sundays match was a great football match. We wanted to take on a new challenge and tough teams and that was exactly what we did.

Despite going 2 up, we were unable to hold on as Wilmslow took their opportunities when they came and clawed back the lead. Their strength in finishing was were we fell down and we missed chances that in the end were costly.

A disappointing result, but a tough match which was what we wanted.

A successful start to our season in a new league. We have entered the Timperely & District League this year after 2 years unbeaten in Stockport Metro.

The boys weren't put off by the thought of a new era and went out to play the kind of football we know they are capable of.

It was a terrific match with Vulcans playing some fantastic football. All the boys played well and it was good to see goals coming from different players which hopefully is a taste of the season to come.

Zak earned his MOTM through is control of the centre of the park, but it was a tough decision as it was a great team performance.

We had kicked off the season with a much needed win to boost our moral and confidence, we had started the game unsettled and tried to find the positions and get our passes together after the first 10 minutes we settled down a bit and a opportunity came from a goal kick by kyle which was well controlled by G-man and finished off, our second goal came after pressure by our team and Ryan lobbed the keeper to get our second of the game.
Second half we played much better and passing was much more accurate and we played like the great team that we are, the game slowed down towards the end as we finished the match with a 2-0 victory and a good performance by the boys. We have to build up on that win and keep working harder, well done everybody.

Hopefully this would alarming us about our forthcoming matches and not to under estimate any team regardless.
